PSSSSST!

Hey Patches Pals … Over Here …

February 2008 will mark the 50th anniversary of the first broadcast of The J.P. Patches Show!

In order to commemorate this Historical Event, which ranks right up there somewhere between the Discovery of Fire and the introduction of the electric left-handed tweezers, Patches Pal Carl Lovgren has a great idea:

How about a life-sized bronze sculptures of J.P. Patches and Gertrude in Fremont! The sculpture will be placed near the "Waiting for the Interurban," a very famous Seattle sculpture and landmark. (Fremont, located just north of downtown Seattle, is also known as the Center of the Universe.)

The folks at the Museum of History and Industry and the Northwest Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences think it’s a pretty good idea, too.

Here's Susan Paynter's article about the project published in the P-I.

For more information, you can go to the Northwest Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences website.

You can make a donation online here.

And whatever you do … Don’t tell J.P.

It’s supposed to be a surprise.

"Who, when he saw the first sand or ashes, by a casual intenseness of heat, melted into a metalline form, rugged with excrescences, and clouded with impurities, would have imagined, that in this shapeless mass would turn into smething useful like a glass? Neat huh? I mean without glasses we couldn't see or have anything to put Kool-Aid in!
